Welcome back



 Wow - I can't believe it's been so long since my past blog post. September I started the 19 annotative retreat and have been reflecting in a hand written journal. As this retreat comes to a close I am rereading some of my reflections and plan to share them here. I want to start with one from the other day I really like. I had to reflect on Philippians 4:4-9.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

   I absolutely love this passage, It was already underlined in my bible. This verse really speaks to me. The devil is lurking, not around a corner but in our very minds, poisoning our thoughts, dismantling our dreams, getting us stuck in beliefs that arent' even real. Joy through the struggle, this is the ultimate self-help. Knowing God has a plan - and that plan is for us to prosper, but we must do our part. We must be obedient to the word. Our thoughts must dwell on good , pure thoughts, not on anxiety. Taking our anxieties to God in prayer is the greatest stress reliever. Who needs anything else?

   Putting my faith and trust in God is now my first thought, not my last. Our thoughts become our very lives, we must be thinking with a disciples heart, to take the word of God as our script, not write our own out of guilt or shame or self doubt. We must think of all the good our God wants to shower us with in his loving mercy and care. Having a grateful heart is the best dwelling place, why would God give us any more if we do not have a grateful heart? I am so grateful Jesus walks along side me. He is never too far from my thoughts, guiding my actions, his actions, the only actions. I must be diligent in seeing all things through God's eyes so I am kind and compassionate.

Rejoice in the Lord always! Even in the darkest nights, the toughest situations my God is with me and I am so very thankful for him.
